Turkish Rap is one of the major styles that has the shortest history among all styles within Turkish music. Although the mainland Turkey has first heard rap in Turkish with Cartel, the first Turkish album was released a year earlier in Frankfurt under the name 'Looptown presents Turkish Hiphop'. But it was in 2000, when Sultana released his 'Çerkez Kızı' that Rap has been recognized widely as part of the Turkish music scene, especially due to the scandal caused by the video clip of 'Kuşu Kalkmaz', one of the provocative songs in the album. Lately, Ceza has become extremely popular with the younger generation.
